Metacore games is a fast-growing Finnish mobile game development company whose hit game ‘Merge Mansion’ has hit record numbers in downloads. The new headquarters are located in the Salmisaari neighbourhood which connects the Helsinki center with the near-by islands and the city of Espoo. The area is characterized by a combination of layers of old production facilities and modern architecture. As Salmisaari is located by the sea the new workplace also enjoys maritime views. 

A customized user survey was used, to explore users' wishes and needs, together with preferences regarding materials, visual aesthetics, lighting, and overall functionality. The goal was to identify spatial “pain points” and gain in in-depth understanding of users' working experiences and requirements at a detailed level.

Summaries of the survey results were analyzed in collaboration with the client's core project team and together implemented into the spatial design. Metacore wanted to convey quality and a sense of community in their spaces, emphasizing their commitment to investing in employees both through the physical space and its amenities. Additionally, there was a need for flexible spaces that accommodate changing team sizes and a growing group of contributors.
